Potential of Unconventional Sources of Natural Gas in India (Book)

Published: May 12, 2013
Words: 32,969 (approximate)
Pages: 101
Language: Commonwealth English
Author: Mohit Sharma
Publisher: Freelance Talents
ISBN: 9781301257324

Depletion of conventional resources, and increasing demand for clean energy forces India to hunt for alternatives to conventional energy. Intense importance has been given for finding out more and more energy resources; specifically unconventional ones like shale gas & gas hydrates, as gas is less polluting compared to oil or coal. This redacted report covers potential of such energy sources. NELP has helped in increased and fair participation of private sector, but a separate and independent bidding round is required for the unconventional sources of natural gas, which will help in optimal utilization of resources, as these are not considered practically in the oil and gas exploration blocks. Major oil companies, while drilling for oil and gas, have hit thick structures of coal and shale, but do not show interest in testing and drilling because they are not permitted to do so.

A policy that enables oil and gas companies to drill for unconventional oil and natural gas and to extract and produce shale gas along with conventional natural gas. This change may revive old wells too, which have been declared as commercially nonviable and it may also increase the energy capacity of the country.

• The gases also serve as an alternative for cleaner fuel compared to conventional oil and coal.
• Acquiring overseas assets for exploring the shale gas structures is very important as it will help the Indian oil and gas companies to gain the technical knowhow and the skills needed to operate the business.
• The government’s assistance towards public and private sector companies in importing the shale gas, CBM, Gas Hydrates and Tight Sand Gas extraction technology to India by providing incentives.
• Proper development of service capabilities. Customization of techniques and methods used in different parts of world according to the topography, blocks present in India.

• However, in case of Shale gas It is necessary to address the environmental concerns regarding the shale gas operations. There are studies going on to understand the environmental and public health impact due to shale gas development in the US. India should use them to shape appropriate regulation.

• The fiscal policy could include either a royalty tax or severance tax, apart from corporate income tax. The earnings should be shared amongst the State and the Central Government to incentivize the state government’s role in acquiring land. These earnings through taxes will also help the Government to improve the required services and infrastructure. However, the Government should also be aware of highly taxing economic rent as it may alter the prospects of the interested companies. While considering tax exemptions or tax holiday, the government should be aware of the fact that the shale gas production is the highest in the initial years before the production starts to fall rapidly. Hence, the tax holidays should be given at the end stage of the shale gas production, while knowing the life span of the formation beforehand.

This is redacted-edited research report with some of the information removed. It covers the rural electrification with renewable based power projects. Available on Minus, Pothi, ISSUU, Scribd, etc and allied networks.

Short description

Renewable Energy Power Projects backed by different government schemes like Decentralized Distributed Generation(DDG), RGGVY, Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission etc for Rural Electrification in India by private companies. Extended description

As demand for energy is increasing around the world & in India, there is a positive growth trend coming in the renewable energy sector also. There are many rural and remote areas which are energy deficient.

Private companies are encouraged by Government creating opportunities by various governmental schemes like Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna, Distributed Decentralized Generation and support in finance, distribution, technology, land, etc. As every area has its dynamics and differs from others in terms of topography, density of population and energy needs, there is a need of study for specific features related to a region (like a cluster of 19 villages in Gaya, Bihar requiring about 750kw Plant studied here) with the help of surveys, financial tools and earlier standards. Other renewable sources and areas are also covered in the book. The confidential information is edited-redacted.

Tails of Low I.Q. - Book by Karan Virk [Freelance Talents]

“Waaaaaaaaaaah (Wooooooooooow) Taj!” is a common quote said by most tourists while witnessing the beauty of Taj Mahal. There must be something in India that makes it the center of attention. Housing 28 states and 7 Union Territories, India is the most diverse country in the world. Every corner of this vibrant country contains a mixture of its share of architecture, regional culture, and crazy issues resulting in mind fracture. This book contains stories cooked with a ‘Desi – Tadka’, sprinkled with Indian Masala.
I have written many of these stories during my school days and hopefully will be wandering the streets of India in future. My earlier ‘Emotional’ Pichkaris (Holi Water Guns) failed to bring me success, while filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap & Sudhir Mishra easily achieve success by exploring the dark depths of human mind. So, I have turned to ‘Low I.Q.’ and started my journey from a new perspective. My pseudonym is “Sixth Pandav” because I relate to (& share my name) with Karan from mythological epic Mahabharata who was a rebel in true sense.

I would like to thank my family, friends, and mentors for their support. My teachers from Kirpal Sagar Academy, Teja Singh Kandhari School, Modern Senior Secondary School, for their teachings. Personal thanks to the online masterminds who helped me gain a vision by analyzing their visions of Comic Groups, Storywrite Website, Allpoetry Website, Blogger Groups etc.

A very special ‘Thank You’ to Mohit Sharma (Trendster / Trendy Baba) without whom this project would have had never been created. He has provided commendable support by helping and guiding me through every part of this ‘Indie’ experience!

A New Approach to Microfinance Biogas in India (eBook)

My 4th ebook. First Non-fiction work.

This Power-Point presentation (now text) is part of my Marketing project “Potential, Feasibility & Microfinance of Biogas : Rural India”. My MBA (Energy Trading), University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, group members (Abhishek Ray, Vanya Narain, Vivek Chaudhary) covered various other aspects related to Biogas which are not included in this book. Focus is on innovative use of Microfinance to increase the feasibility of Biogas in India. Which is such an old concept & yet not applied with success in India.

This project is based on my observations on our 2 surveys (First on 18 Families & second on 136 families in Dehradun City). To entertain you I will start with two Print-‘Multimedia’ Ads (Biogas AKA Gobar Gas) which I ‘performed’ after the presentation.
